This post shared on Facebook and Twitter claims to show protests taking place in Nairobi on November 8, 2022, opposing President William Ruto’s presidency. The demonstrators in the video are chanting, “Hatutaki Ruto, Tunataka Baba”, a phrase that was used in the posts on Twitter and YouTube to share the video

Kenyans went to the polls on August 9, 2022 to vote for elective positions among them the tightly contested presidential position. Kenya Kwanza’s frontrunner William Ruto was declared winner on August 15, 2022 much to the dismay of Azimio La Umoja’s Raila Odinga. William Ruto’s victory was later upheld by the Supreme Court of Kenya on September 5, 2022.

Verification

The original video was shared here on TikTok on August 22, 2022. A different video published by NTV on the same day shows protests along the same street outside Milimani Law Courts. Analysis of one of the surrounding buildings in the video in question shows that the protests were held across the road, outside Milimani Law Courts.

According to The Star, the protesters were demanding electoral justice ahead of Azimio La Umoja’s Raila Odinga filing his petition challenging William Ruto’s win later that day.
