The recent Sagana 3 meeting by President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Sagana State Lodge garnered quite a lot of attention. Amid this was an image making rounds on the internet. It claimed to show Murang’a Women Representative, Sabina Chege as one of those who attended this meeting. One for instance was concerned about how quickly Sabina was discharged from hospital and made her way to the Sagana 3 convention.
Background
During this meeting, the State’s Head of Presidential Delivery Unit, Andrew Wakahiu outlined key developments that the Jubilee party has achieved for the last nine years. President Uhuru firmly held his position in supporting Raila Odinga in the upcoming elections.
Taking pride in his achievements, President Uhuru held that “governments are not run from sunroofs. Let nobody lie to you that they have done anything for you.” He went on to accuse his Deputy for “taking off to engage in politics” while he, the President embarked on delivering to Kenyans.
Hon. Sabina was scheduled for a court hearing over her claims on the rigging of 2017 election votes. These remarks from Hon. Chege received backlash from the Deputy President Wiliam Ruto who rubbished these claims saying that the Jubilee administration did not rig elections.
Through her lawyers, Hon. Sabina excused herself from appearing before the court saying she is admitted at Nairobi Hospital.

This photo of Sabina Chege, Dr. Amos Kimunya at the centre and Betty Maina was taken in Siaya County. From the photo, a footnote can be spotted with the Sabina Chege Foundation watermark. With this, we dig into Hon. Sabina’s Facebook account. On January 22, 2022 photos taken during a delegation of Mount Kenya leaders and those from Siaya were shared on Facebook.
Therefore, we made a comparison between these photos and the one where Sabina, Dr. Kimunya and Betty are together. From the clothes all these politicians donned, this image was taken during the delegates’ meeting in Siaya County.
Secondly, from the Sagana 3 meeting, the podium did not have Azimio La Umoja’s banner unlike the one held in Siaya county.
Verdict
Sabina Chege was NOT part of the leaders who attended the Sagana meeting.
