Is Kenya Red Cross Recruiting Through This Facebook Job Advert?

A post circulating on Facebook claims that the Kenya Red Cross Society (KRCS) is recruiting for various positions, including supervisors and administrators, cleaners and security guards, storekeepers and chefs, first-aid facilitators and paid volunteers.

The post, shared by a Facebook page named AID Careers, invites job seekers to apply for the positions and promises successful applicants competitive salaries, professional training and opportunities for career growth.

It also features the Kenya Red Cross logo alongside photographs that appear to be AI-generated or digitally manipulated.

Piga Firimbi identified the purported recruitment advert on the AID Careers Facebook page, where it was first posted on July 31, 2026 and later on August 7th, 2026.

Piga Firimbi also found that the Facebook page has published similar purported recruitment adverts for Red Cross societies in Zambia, South Sudan and South Africa. The posts uses almost identical wording and list several of the same positions.

The posts also promise competitive salaries, professional training and opportunities for career growth, while directing users to “Sign Up to Apply”. The adverts use images that appear to be AI-generated or digitally manipulated.

If genuine, the advert would offer employment opportunities at one of Kenya’s leading humanitarian organisations, making verification necessary.

Background

Fake recruitment adverts frequently exploit the names and branding of reputable organisations to lure job seekers into sharing personal information or making payments.

Kenya Red Cross Society has previously warned the public about fraudulent job advertisements circulating on social media. In March 2024, the organisation flagged fake job offers and induction letters that required successful applicants to pay KSh12,950 for meals during orientation. At the time, Kenya Red Cross said there had been “numerous attempts to defraud Kenyans through fake job advertisements” and reiterated that genuine vacancies are advertised only through its official careers platform.

Verification

Piga Firimbi reviewed the purported advert and identified several red flags.

First, the advert directs applicants to a Google Form titled “Kenya Red Cross Employment Application Portal 2026” rather than the Kenya Red Cross Society’s official recruitment platform.

The form lists numerous positions, including supervisors and administrators, cleaners and guards, motorbike riders, technicians, nurses and midwives, teachers, accountants, communication officers, engineers and paid volunteers.

Applicants are asked to provide their name, telephone number, email address, town of residence, gender, age, employment status and other personal information.

The form is not hosted on the Kenya Red Cross Society’s official website.

Piga Firimbi also searched the Kenya Red Cross careers page and found no recruitment notice matching the purported advert. The organisation’s official careers page is where it publishes its employment, training and volunteer opportunities.

Further, Kenya Red Cross has publicly disowned the advert.

In a post on its verified X account, the organisation stated that a fake “We Are Hiring” advert using the Kenya Red Cross name was circulating online and “is NOT genuine.”

The organisation warned members of the public: “Don’t apply. Don’t share your details. Don’t pay anyone.” It directed those seeking genuine opportunities to its official careers page.

Piga Firimbi also found that TUKO.co.ke reported on August 6, 2026, that Kenya Red Cross had flagged the same job advert as fake. The report cited the organisation’s warning and noted that the public had been directed to its official channels for genuine employment opportunities.

The purported Kenya Red Cross recruitment advert circulating on Facebook is FAKE.
