Does This Video Show Military Tanks Farming At Ruto’s Kilgoris Farm?

On September 1, 2026, an X user, @abed_MF, shared a video showing a military tank ploughing a farm and claimed that it was being used at President William Ruto’s farm in Kilgoris.

The post was captioned “This is Ruto’s Kligoris farm. He is using military tanks to farm his land. @WilliamsRuto must go!”

At the time of writing, the post had received 46,700 views, 177 likes and  63 reposts. Mutuku’s X profile describes him as an entrepreneur, economist and data scientist who also posts about politics, and has about 1,500 followers.

Background

President William Ruto owns Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County, a property of approximately 900 acres where he keeps livestock and engages in agricultural activities. The farm includes residential facilities, livestock areas, and agricultural land.

In August 2026, the farm was featured in media reports following the visit of Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo, who shared videos from the property. The reports showed the farm’s agricultural activities, including cattle, maize and macadamia farming.

The claim was shared amid ongoing public debate over President Ruto’s administration and the performance of public institutions. On August 27, 2026, Ruto urged Kenyans to scrutinise public institutions, demand accountability and speak out against wrongdoing.

Verification

A reverse-image search found that the footage was not recorded in Kenya. The same footage was posted on social media accounts belonging to British content creator Joe Hewes, also known online as Mr. Hewes, on August 20, 2025. It was later included in a longer video documenting his use of a tank for agricultural work.

Further evidence from British agricultural events also links the same tank to Hewes. A post from the Vintage Match Ploughing group identifies Joe Hewes and his Chieftain tank during a ploughing demonstration at the National Ploughing Match in Coventry.

The video therefore predates the September 1, 2026 X post by more than a year and was recorded in the United Kingdom. There is no evidence in the original footage or the available information about its source connecting it to Ruto’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris.

Verdict

The claim that the video shows military tanks being used to farm President William Ruto’s land in Kilgoris is FALSE.
