This Facebook post shared a poster claiming that Haki Africa’s Hussein Khalid would allegedly be vying for Mvita Constituency’s parliamentary seat.
The poster includes images of Abdulswamad Sharif Nassir, Mvita’s current MP who is currently running for Mombasa’s gubernatorial seat. It also shows ODM party leader and presidential hopeful Raila Odinga.
Background
Another, claim as checked by Piga Firimbi here falsely claimed that NARC-Kenya’s Martha Karua was apparently endorsed as William Ruto’s running mate. More on this is a claim that the Elections Amendment Bill revoked electronic transmission debunked here.
Verification
A reverse image search leads to a tweet by Haki Africa. It quotes Hussein Khaid’s tweet, warning of false information. It goes on to add that its executive director remains to support the human rights movement.
“He is not pursuing any political seat.” It holds.
Further clarifying these claims, Hussein Khalid flagged the posters. Holding that his focus is on defending human rights and social justice.
