Has EABL Discontinued the Chrome Gin Brand?

Several social media users on Twitter and Facebook have shared claims that the East African Breweries Limited (EABL) last year halted the production of one of its most popular spirit brands- Chrome Gin. The claim gained more attention on Facebook after it was shared by blogger Cyprian Nyakundi on 21 November 2022.

Verification

EABL shared an official statement on their official Twitter handle on September 22, 2022. “These comments are false, defamatory and designed to deceive our consumers and damage our brand,” the statement reads.

EABL also responded to the claims through its Chrome_KE official Twitter page. “Chrome iko (We have Chrome),” the reply reads, followed with a link to an online liquor store ke.thebar.com. Chrome Gin is one of the brands available for purchase on the website. See screengrab below
