Background

On October 6, 2026, this X post, viewed more than 2.8 million times, claimed that Dr. Oburu Oginga was dead. Despite Oburu denying the claims the same day through a communique on his X account, the following day, this video started circulating on X and other social media platforms here, here and here, claiming there was heavy military presence outside Lee Funeral Home, further strengthening the rumours of Oburu’s death.

Lee Funeral Home is widely known for serving Kenya’s political, business and social elite, offering first-class mortuary storage, embalming, custom caskets, and luxury hearse transport. The facility has handled the remains of late Kenyan presidents Daniel Toroitich Arap Moi and Mwai Kibaki, as well as former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, among many other politicians.

Verification

Piga Firimbi verified that the video was filmed at the entrance of Lee Funeral Home. A visual comparison between a screengrab from the video and Google Maps Street View imagery of the entrance reveals consistent architectural features, as illustrated in the graphic below.

First, the entrance gates are identical. Second, the horizontal fascia panel along the flat roof overhang above the entrance, highlighted by the cyan arrow, provides an additional visual match. These features confirm that the location shown in the video is Lee Funeral Home.
