A post shared on X on October 4, 2026, from an account with the username Peris claims that Lulu Hassan has joined the UDA Party. The published post has Lulu Hassan’s image wearing a cap branded with UDA Party colours, with the Party’s slogan “KAZI NI KAZI” on it.
The same claim has been published on other social media platforms such as Facebook, and the caption read “Citizen TV Presenter Lulu Hassan to join UDA as she plans to run for the Mvita Parliamentary seat.” Images of Lulu Hassan posing with President William Ruto are also attached to the post.

Background
Lulu Hassan is a Kenyan journalist, news anchor, producer, and CEO of Jiffy Pictures. Lulu comes from the coastal region and has been running empowerment projects and activities for the youth and women in Mvita and other places in the larger region through Lulu ya Jamii Foundation. According to this article by Radio Kaya, Lulu set the wheels of her political journey in motion in April, 2025 and started intensifying her campaigns in Mvita Constituency.
On September 26, 2026, President Ruto began a coastal region tour. Lulu Hassan was in attendance at State House, Mombasa, during the President’s engagement with the local media and shared a moment with President Ruto. This is why she is being linked to the UDA Party. Mvita Constituency is considered an ODM Party stronghold since the former MP, now Mombasa Governor, Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir and the incumbent Mvita MP, Mohamed Machele were elected through the ODM Party.
Verification
A review of Lulu Hassan’s official accounts shows there is no official announcement in regard to Lulu joining the UDA Party. Ordinarily, when a party welcomes new members, it usually announces their arrival through its official communication channels. However, there is no such information published on the UDA Party’s official accounts.
A Google reverse image search directs to the original video published on August 9, 2026.

Verdict
The claim that Lulu Hassan has officially joined the UDA party is FALSE.
