On June 21, 2026, the Facebook page with the username Africa Is Powerful shared a post claiming that the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially accepted the joint bid from Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2032.
Background
Confederation of African Football (CAF) is the governing body of football (soccer) in Africa. It organizes competitions such as the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), the CAF Champions League, and the CAF Confederation Cup.
Morocco hosted the 35th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which took place from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026. The 36th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations PAMOJA 2027 will be one of the most significant tournaments in the history of African football, with Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda set to jointly host the competition. The opening match will be played on Saturday, June 19, 2027, while the final is scheduled for Saturday, July 17, 2027.
The claim emerged when CAF invited its member associations to submit their bids to host the 2028, 2032 and 2036 AFCON.
Verification
After reviewing CAF’s verified X account and official website, we found no announcement confirming that the joint bid by Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to host the 2032 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been accepted.
Credible media outlets, including The Standard, have reported on the three countries’ joint bid but have not reported that CAF has accepted it.
Furthermore, a BBC Sport article notes that CAF is yet to announce the hosts for the 2028 and 2032 AFCON tournaments.
Verdict
The claim that CAF accepted the joint bid from Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger to host AFCON in 2032 is MISLEADING.
