A post circulating on Facebook claims that the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is recruiting 1,650 Graduate Trainees on three-year contracts and invites applicants to submit their CVs through a Gmail address.
The post features what appears to be an official KRA recruitment advert titled “Advertisement for Graduate Trainee Position 2026.” It claims successful applicants will earn a basic salary of KSh 45,850 and be deployed across several counties.
Piga Firimbi identified the purported advert in the Vihiga County Facebook Forum, where it was posted on July 26, 2026
If genuine, the advert would represent one of KRA’s largest graduate recruitment drives in recent years, making verification necessary.
Background
Recruitment scams often surge when public institutions are perceived to be hiring, with fraudsters creating fake adverts that mimic official government branding to lure unsuspecting job seekers.
Verification
Piga Firimbi reviewed the purported advert and identified several red flags.
First, the advert instructs applicants to submit their applications through the email address afid.africa@gmail.com. KRA does not advertise vacancies through Gmail accounts. Instead, the authority directs applicants to submit job applications through its official e-recruitment portal.
Piga Firimbi also searched KRA’s official careers page and found no advertisement matching the purported graduate trainee recruitment.
Further, KRA has publicly disowned the advert. In a response posted on its verified X account, @KRACare, the authority stated: “The post shared is FAKE and not published by Kenya Revenue Authority.”

KRA further advised that all available employment opportunities, including internships and attachments, are advertised exclusively through its official e-recruitment portal and urged job seekers to follow the prescribed application procedures.
Piga Firimbi also emailed the address listed in the advert, afid.africa@gmail.com, seeking to authenticate the purported recruitment. At the time of publication, no response had been received.
Verdict
The purported KRA graduate trainee recruitment advert is FAKE.
