Where Are Our Children? – Part 5

17-year-old Ramadhan Kamau, accused by the police of being part of a criminal gang that terrorized Nairobi residents, was shot at point-blank range by a police officer known to him as he pleaded for his life on his knees. According to witness accounts, he was shot 10 times.

For Joseph Maiyo, the killing of “Jomba”, as Ramadhan Kamau was popularly known, brought back memories of his own son’s killing, 3 years ago, a story that, as is evident in this series, is too common in Nairobi’s sprawling ghettos and across the country.
