Piga Firimbi, is a product of Africa Uncensored focused on verification and fact checking. Africa Uncensored started operations in 2016, and Piga Firimbi was established in 2020.

The team is overseen by the Managing Editor, Samuel Munia, and the overall Africa Uncensored team is led by the CEO, Emmanuel Chenze.

We look into the validity of claims being made in the news, media reports and online, and use factual information to verify the veracity of this information. We also look into other aspects of the information ecosystem that may affect how we see the world.

We are committed to non-partisanship, and all our team members declare any affiliations that they may have that could impact the way a fact-check is conducted. In the event that a fact-checker’s affiliations may impact their impartiality, the fact-check is reassigned.

As the name indicates, we blow the whistle on things and matters affecting you. Our team of journalists combs through the vast information landscape to highlight what really matters to our diverse audience in Kenya and across Africa.
