You know of ‘The Onion’? Well, if you don’t, here’s a short crash course before we hand over things to Linda and Calvin: it is a satirical website. While ‘The Onion’ is a US-based publication with a global reach that many have come to know for its satire, not so much is known about many local satirical sites that are mushrooming. As such, we end up sharing what we think are “news” from such platforms not knowing they were meant for our comic relief and not the level of seriousness or fear in which we receive. Oh, don’t get us started on parodies.
