A Facebook post claims to show an image of residents in Uganda’s Kasese area allegedly protesting the general election results.
The post whose text has been republished word for word on a tweet contains an image that shows a crowd of protesters surrounding a fire. The text states that: “Kasese have started demanding for their win of Mr Kyagulanyi Sentamu Robert”.
Background
The Electoral Commission of Uganda on January 16 announced results following the January 14 general elections. The Commission’s results declared incumbent President Yoweri Museveni as the winning presidential candidate with 58.38% of the vote while his closest opponent, Robert Kyagulanyi, had 35.08% of the vote. Mr Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, disputed the declared results as he said that the elections were fraudulent.
At the height of the most fraudulent election, after blocking observers, cutting off the internet and barring everyone except the EC from releasing results, @nbstv was at hand to assist the dictatorship relay cooked figures. This week, I sent them a protest letter. pic.twitter.com/INzW5wPHYk

Verification
A Google image reverse search reveals that the image is actually from Kenya. The image was taken in October 2017 in Mombasa County at a time when there had been post-election violence in Kenya.
Piga Firimbi has previously debunked misinformation on Uganda’s recent elections, including a false claim that an image showed Ugandan youth allegedly stopping a police officer from stealing ballots, a tweet that falsely claimed that the U.S. government had apparently issued a WhatsApp number where Ugandans can report human rights violations during the election period, as well as a fake notice claiming that the Electoral Commission of Uganda issued separate voting dates for different presidential candidates.
Verdict
The image claiming to show Kasese residents allegedly protesting the presidential election results is FALSE.
