An image shared on Facebook claims to show the tallest African lady from South Sudan at nine feet, six inches tall.
The image, which appears to be a screenshot, contains the picture of the said lady in jeans and a striped crop top, seemingly taken from a low angle.
The text on top of the image reads, “Meet the tallest African lady from South Sudan. She is 9 feet 6 inches tall”. The post does not, however, identify who the woman is.
Verification
A reverse image search reveals that the image is of former Miss Earth South Sudan 2009, Aheu Kudum. Kudum shared the image on her Instagram page on 20 June 2021.
However, in a text response to PesaCheck via Instagram, Kudum said she is six feet, five inches tall, and not nine feet, six inches as claimed in the post.
The Guinness World Records reports that the most recent record holder for the tallest woman in the world was Yao Defen from China at seven feet, seven inches. She, however, died in 2012, and the Guinness World Record says it has no record holder for this category at the moment.
Before the late Defen, the title was held by another Chinese lady, Zeng Jinlian, at eight feet, one inch. Jinlian died in 1982 and the Guinness World Record contends she remains the tallest woman ever.
The Guinness World Record for the tallest man in the world is held by a 38-year-old Turkish man Sultan Kösen who stands 8 feet 3 inches tall.
Verdict
PesaCheck has looked into the image claiming to show the tallest African lady from South Sudan at nine feet, six inches tall, and finds it to be FALSE.
