Background
According to the letter circulating, U.S. visas held by Kenya’s Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Cabinet Secretary for Investments, Trade and Industry, Moses Kuria, Majority Leader for the National Assembly, Kimani Ichung’wah and the Member of Parliament for Kiharu Constituency Ndindi Nyoro have allegedly been revoked for reportedly planning and sponsoring violence on March 27, 2023.
Verification
The most recent press releases from the U.S. Department of Treasury do not have any sanctions on these politicians. Moreover, in a fact-check by Citizen Digital, Andrew Veveiros, the spokesperson for the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi dismissed the letter as fake.
