Wetangula’s tweet read “have had a busy moment at FORD-Kenya party HQS receiving, advising and encouraging our candidates in preparation for party primaries.” It further added that, “Kenya Kwanza is the valid dream and hope for Kenya.”
Background
Similar claims have been going round. Some, slightly manipulated while others are taken out of context. One for instance, claimed to show a meeting between Deputy President William Ruto with US President, Joe Biden during his latest visit to America.
Verification
What reverse image searches reveal is, this image was taken during a meeting at Senator Wetangula’s home in Karen in 2017. According to this article by Kenyans.co.ke, on January 4, 2017. This was a meeting held ahead of the previous general elections held in 2017. At the time, Wetangula was a co-principal in the CORD coalition.
Further, an advanced search with keywords, “Wetangula Raila Karen Meeting,” between January 4, 2017 and January 8, 2017 leads to the same article on Kenyans.co.ke.
