Is This Presidential Poll From Citizen TV?

This image drawn from a clip shared on TikTok claims to show a presidential poll allegedly from Citizen Digital. The poll on the most preferred presidential candidate shows that George Wajackoyah is in the lead.

The poll was generated and shared by different accounts on TikTok.

Background

George Luchiri Wajackoyah is among the four presidential candidates cleared by the IEBC. This is not the first time the lawyer is expressing interest in the country’s top seat. His first attempt was during the 2013 polls, however, he did not make it to the ballot.

His interview with Citizen TV on June 9, 2022,  gave him the opportunity to explain his plan for the Kenyan electorate once he ascends to power. His economic agenda and plan to offset the debt to China through marijuana and snake farming elicited various reactions. Wajackoyah even caught Ezekiel Mutua’s attention. The Music Copyright Society of Kenya CEO tweeted expressing his satisfaction with Wajackoya’s ideologies.

Following the conversation on Wajackoyah on social media, an opinion poll was fabricated to make it seem like he is now in the lead on the race to State House. The clip was also shared by Professor Wajackoyah’s running mate Justina Wamae, further confusing the electorate on its legitimacy.

Verification

The survey, purportedly by Citizen Digital, was not shared on any of the Royal Media Services’ official social media pages.

Citizen TV Kenya, through a tweet dismissed the polls as fake.

Piga Firimbi has previously debunked such fabricated polls here.

Verdict

The clip claiming to show a presidential poll by Citizen Digital is FAKE.
