James Thiong’o Ngugi popularly known as Ngugi Wa Thiong’o is among Kenya’s most renowned novelists. The 84-year-old is known for writing social, cultural, and political plays and essays.

This is not the first time rumors have spread about the writer’s demise. On December 16, 2021, word spread that he had passed away but his daughter Wanjiku Wa Ngugi sent out a tweet refuting the claims.

These fresh claims have circulated widely, with Kenyans online reacting to the information.

Ngugi Wa Thiong’s son, Mukoma Wa Ngugi, through a tweet dismissed these claims as false.
