Is This Job Advertisement From KCB Bank?

This message circulating on WhatsApp claims that KCB is offering employment and internship opportunities.

Background

According to data by Statista, as of 2021, the unemployment rate in Africa is still high.

The data reveals that around 5.74% of Kenya’s labour force is unemployed. Fortune of Africa cites high population, global economic recessions, inappropriate education system, seasonal changes and imperfections in the labour market as some of the causes of unemployment in Kenya.

Unemployment has been used as campaign fodder for those seeking various elective positions in the August 9, 2022 elections, with Deputy President William Ruto promising that his government will set aside Ksh100 billion to create employment opportunities for the youth.

Fake job adverts often circulate on social media to lure the unsuspecting Kenyan population into being swindled. Piga Firimbi has previously debunked fake job advertisements here.

Verification

The job advertisement bears everything you would find in a legitimate advertisement; the colour, the logo and even the layout. The advertisement was however not circulated on any of their social media platforms here nor was it uploaded on their website here.

KCB, through a tweet, dismissed the advertisement as fake.

All career opportunities at KCB are advertised here and no fees are charged for any application.

Verdict

The post advertising career opportunities at KCB Bank is FAKE.
