A digital card shared on Twitter contains a quote attributed to Kitui Governor Julius Malombe, purportedly published by Kamba Insights. The digital card dated March 2, 2023, contains the Kamba insights branding.
Background
The internet is flowing with misinformation and disinformation targeted at all sides of the political divide. Piga Firimbi previously looked into a fake Mutua Kilonzo quote also claimed to have been published by Kamba Insights.
Verification
The original post on the Kamba Insights Facebook page was sent at around 8:00 am and has a different quote from the digital card posted at 7:00pm. The original digital card is focused on the findings of the Kitui County Staff Audit and does not mention any politicians or parties.
Secondly, the font style in the quote referencing Wiper Party Leader, Kalonzo Musyoka, is not consistent with the original and generally all of the digital cards posted by Kamba News Insights – they always publish the speakers’ words in bold text, with some red highlights. This is not seen in the digital card shared by a blogger and influencer with over 70,000 Twitter followers.
Verdict
This digital card quoting Kitui Governor Julius Malombe allegedly saying that it’s time Kalonzo disassociated himself from Azimio goons is FAKE.
