This Twitter account purports to be that of former popular KTN news presenter Esther Arunga.
The account recently caused a stir on social media after posting a tweet on September 17 asking Kenyans to forgive the former news anchor and that she was ready to come back from Australia. Many people expressed their support while others were suspicious it was a fake account.
Background
Esther Arunga, a former award-winning news Anchor at KTN and a lawyer, caused a stir after quitting her high profile job and joining a cult-like movement known as Finger of God. At the time, she was living with her parents at their Lavington home. Her actions left many confused after she made shocking personal, political and spiritual announcements including her husband vying for the presidency with her as the running mate.
Arunga joined the Finger of God church where she met her husband Quincy Timberlake, born Quincy Wambitta, a controversial man who, along with Joseph Hellon and others, led the church. Her parents were against her joining the church even grounding her but she managed to sneak out. It was at this point that Esther, Quincy and Hellon the church pastor was arrested and charged for belonging to a cult.
Arunga disowned her parents and went ahead to sue them for Kshs 300 million for holding her against her will. After their release from prison and marriage, the couple left the country for Australia where they hit the headlines after the death of their son. It was later revealed that her husband had beaten their son to death while “trying to beat demons out of him”. She was sentenced to 10 months in prison as an accessory to the murder but was immediately released on parole after appearing as a witness against his husband.

A search on TruthNest indicates the account is run by an individual but not a bot. The account indicates its origin as Australia but that cannot be verified since the tweets are not geotagged. An investigation by The Standard revealed that the account does not belong to Esther Arunga.
A tweep also identified the account to have been impersonating popular comedian and radio presenter Jalang’o earlier on.

Verdict
The twitter handle @EstherArunga_ does not belong to the former KTN news anchor and any claims to that effect are therefore FALSE.
