A tweet shared on September 24, 2023, claiming to show a video of President Joe Biden stopping mid-sentence after being interrupted during an address is doctored. Background
Several videos and images have been shared on social media with containing misleading information regarding President Joe Biden. Piga Firimbi debunked some of these claims here, here and here.
Verification
Reverse image searches show results of a press briefing by President Biden from July 2022. A publication by BBC shows the video. A search on Google with the keywords, ‘gun control bill Biden’ gives more details about this address.
Minute 18’50 – 19’10” in a publication by C-SPAN, proves that the video shared by this tweet has a manipulated version of the audio. In fact, within this timecode, a man is heard interrupting the president before the camera pans to him.
Mid-address, President Biden says to the man, “Sit down. You will have to hear what I say.”
While the man’s response is inaudible, the crowd is heard clapping.
Additionally, both videos have consistency in the president’s body language, but audio is evidently altered.
Verdict
The audio in this video which claims to show a crowd using strong language during an address by President Joe Biden is DOCTORED.
