Background

After Monday’s 20, 2023 demonstrations, opposition leader Raila Odinga declared similar protests for every Monday. Speaking at one of the stops while leading these protests, Raila said, this will happen until Kenyans get their rights. These protests, according to the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya flag bearer are a call for a number of amendments by the government. One of these is taxes imposed on basic goods. To a larger extent, these protests raised concerns about incompetence by the current regime.
